Need Road Worthy Replacement for Zoom BFX708

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi Folks,

I'm over from the dark side (i.e. string bass side) of Talkbass. I occasionally use a Zoom BFX708 effect unit on my string bass. However the jacks and power supply connection have been crapping out lately when we were on tour. Naturally it occurred during the biggest, highest profile shows!

The sounds I use are phaser, flanger, the synth bass and occasionally some wah.

Can you folks suggest a sturdy, road worthy replacement for this Zoom unit?

Thanks,

Touch

Zoom B2? Should be a big step up in sound quality and construction from what I've heard about those older models.

If you can the Digitech BP stuff with metal housing used it's rugged.

I'd second the B2 if you want to stick with a multi, I've heard nothing but good things about it.

That said, multi-effects aren't my thing at all (I prefer individual stompboxes), so I'd suggest picking up a phaser, a flanger, an octaver/synth bass, and a wah. Not to mention a pedalboard, but I'm not sure you're ready to take the plunge

I actually like my 708, although i wouldn't take it out to a gig. The modulation effects sound really nice, esp. the pedal-controlled ring-mod and phaser.
