Need some advice on Wah pedal

Sign in to disble this ad
I am thinking about buying a Dunlop 105q crybaby or a Boss AW3 dynamic wah. But I can't make the decision yet.

I like the amazing wah sound in RHCP's Coffee Shop. Is that from a auto wah or wah pedal like crybaby? I wonder how could one rock the pedal so well while slapping fast. So i'd like to ask what kind of wah pedal do bass players usually use? (especially in slap solo)

Thanks a lot!

I'll let others reply to the Coffee Shop question.

I currently have a 105 Q and owned a Boss AW3 for about 24 hours.

The more I tweaked the AW3, the more I got put off by it. IMO, sounded too artificial or... too synthy. I was starting my trek in filter/wah lalaland at the time and didn't have a full grasp on it (still don't, but know a little more) and since I'm a Boss fan, I figured it was a good place to start. But that's just me, there are lots of guys around here who own and love the pedal. Since then I've bought other filters, including a DIgitech BSW which I'm discovering more and more, but it's not my main filter.

As for the 105 Q, bought one a month ago. Absolutely love it and get good funk out of it. I don't rock the pedal as much as set it to get specific tones. But when I rock it, I get some good quacks out of it. Works for me.

I got a dunlop crybaby on ebay a while ago and like it...the black one without the button on the side .
Was real cheap and is a lot of fun... my favorite so far.
I also tried a white dunlop one with that button on the side and did not like it quite so much.
