HELP! im looking at distortions and stuff because i just joined a deathcore/death metal band im running an ampeg ba-115t using an ltd f-404fm (hopefully there will be a ltd b-1005 on the way soon). but i really need something to dirty up my sound. we play in drop c and drop b so i want something gritty and growly that wont mush up my sound to much. i have a mxr blowtorch but its not really good for anything but fuzz.mxr m80 caught my eye but salesmen at my local shop saids its useless unless your playing live.

The wonderful thing about effects that they all sound different both live and in practice.

It sounds to me like you want a distortion and not a fuzz. There are lots of threads on which ones people prefer.

I personally love the Way Huge Pork Loin as it has a lot of options on how you want to shape your distorted tone.

Then again, you really need to just sit and try out a few and see which one is the best for you.

You could search for "overdrive" or "distortion" or "dirt"

As a rule I generally avoid any genre that '-core' as a suffix but anyway...

An overdrive may be what you're looking for.

I've got just the thing for you. Find a nice used Tech21 XXLB Bass Distortion. It's a simple, cheap, purple pedal that will spiral your tone into the gravely mud.
