Need suggestions on how to spend my money

Sign in to disble this ad
Well I have $100 worth of GC giftcards from Christmas, and I'm trying to figure out what I should spend them on.

So far my ideas are:

EHX Soul Preacher Nano
BBE Opto Stomp
MXR M-80
Put it towards a bigger board (current board is a bit undersized)
Shure SM57 or 58

Other?

Soul Preacher! Then record some bass clips and post them on talkbass!

i dont know a heck of a lot about compression pedals, but i have the soul preacher nano and perhaps wouldnt reccomend it. if it were me i'd definately buy a spare 57 or 58.... chances are you'll need it one day and it sucks having to save up to buy mics... better just to have a few handy while you can grab one free.

thats what i gots ta say

In terms of usefulness for bass, the BBE slays the Preacher and then pisses on its corpse, IMO.

Mics are very useful, but not as fun as pedals. Everyone needs an SM57 or 58 in their toolkit, so I guess just decide what you actually need more.

Any sound clips for the BBE?

Thumbs up BBE all the way

Having recently purchased a BBE, I would reccomend it to anybody playing any style of music. There are probably no sound clips that really do it justice because the effect it has on your sound is rather subtle (when used correctly). It is an addictive improvement to your sound...

I recently forgot mine at a local gig and actually drove home during set break to get it. Second set my sound was vastly improved- cut through the mix better, more punch, more clarity, a little boost to the low end. This is where the pedal really shines for me- in a live sound application. If you play live, run your bass through this pedal before your amp input, not in an effects loop, that way it will go into the DI output, improving your sound in the mix...

As JHB notes, soundclips won't help much because it does not sound like anything, really.
