need tuner recommendation (for low tunings)

Sign in to disble this ad
so i currently have the boss stomp box tuner, but my band tunes very low and it has trouble picking up the frequency (my low string is tuned to A and sometimes G) and i end up out of tune. is there a better tuner that would pick the low notes up easier than the boss? any and all recommendations are welcome. thanks!

I don't know of any tuners off-hand that are particularly great even as low as low B, though my old Korg worked better than most.

Have you tried using harmonics to give the tuner a higher pitch to work with?

I wouldn't really recommend the Korg Pitchblack. It isn't bad, but I think you could get something better.

On my Korg Pitchblack I still have to hit the 12th fret harmonic in order to make it tune my low D# quickly. :/

I recommend that you check out Sonic Research's Turbo Tuner: http://www.turbo-tuner.com/pages/manual-st2.htm

I also recommend that you do a search for threads about this pedal to see if it will tune at the frequencies you need.

My Peterson Strobostomp tunes that low, I just tried it. I like this tuner better than any I've ever had before. Well worth the money I paid for it. You can download the application for it on your I-Phone too, though I've never tried that. My friend did that, and liked it.

all of these tuners say they can tune as low as 16 hz (which is the C below drop C). the boss TU-2 definitely doesnt pick up frequencies that low, it gets confused all the time on my low A and thinks its a D or a B, it just isnt very accurate.

id just like to know if this turbo tuner is more accurate but considering the specs are almost identical to the boss TU-2 id just like some real personal opinions from people who have used them.
