OK he can make a jazz bass sound like a synth, and that's amazing why?
I found it enjoyable though.

well, it's the whole package, really. So groovy. These guys could replace a DJ at a club or a rave and everyone would be into it. I find that kinda rad.

The bass tones just justified putting it in the effects forum

What the hell? Do you have any idea how many people around here spend umpteen hundreds of hours and twice that many dollars over and over again to try (and fail) to make synth sounds anywhere approaching that? Sorry it's not some Wooten wannabe going BIPPITYBIPPITYBIPPITYBIPPITYBIPPITYBIPPITYBIPPITYB IPPITYBIPPITY for 10 minutes

Almost.
Not that this isn't totally awesome, but there's still a little bit too much character, or "player's player" cliches in the drummer's fills. It distracts from the brutally machine-like, neutral qualities that make sequenced beats so great to dance to. The high synth melody is a bit weak as well. That being said, I would love see em at a dance venue in my city.

Anyone care to deconstruct what effects are being employed?

Just going by what I know he's used in the past, I'd guess
Boss OC-2 -> Bugcrusher -> LPF modulated by the Moog MP-201
would be a good starting point.

hey dudes. thanks for the comments and feedback!

for my next video, i will be demonstrating my incredible quintuple thump technique, and getting rid of all these silly pedals.

pedals for that gig were:

OC2 > Woolly Mammoth > WMD FatMan > BugCrusher > MF101 > M9

i think... that's pretty much been the board for the last year or so... i think i had my EH Freeze there, but didn't use it.

Happy with how that stuff turned out... based on the results we got with this one, we may try to do a residency and shoot/multitrack a bunch of gigs, to put together a full DVD... one set doesn't really give you enough good material for a full DVD, it was more to have a good video representation of what we do in a club scenario... definitely worth doing more...

oh yeah... and the 201, of course, as the source of mental modulation possibilities.
