According to the rumour..

Got this message from Spencer! today:

I haven't designed the enclosure yet, so release is still a few months away, but I am going to build 5 prototypes in a generic enclosure and distribute them to talkbass members. They will sound and work just like the final product, but they won't be quite as pretty.

The price for a prototype will be $150 shipped. The 5 people who buy a prototype will be eligible for a sizable discount on the final product if they wish to purchase one.

Here are the specs:

Sensitivity knob (like the "gain" control on the original, but keeps your signal at unity gain)
Resonance knob ("peak")
Hi/Lo range switch
Sweep up/down switch
Runs on one 9v battery or standard 9-18v supply (boss-style)
Internal lowpass/bandpass/highpass switch
Selectable between true or buffered bypass

The prototypes will be housed in a Hammond 1590N1 enclosure, which is slightly larger than an MXR pedal. The production model will be in a slightly smaller enclosure.

Please pass this message along to any talkbass members who you think might be interested. I'm ordering parts for the prototypes right now and they will be ready to ship within the next week or two.

Let me know if you're interested.

Spencer
I dunno who else might be interested..this is easier

Spencer sent me a message as well,...but I've got other responsibilities before I can pick up any more pedals,...prototype or not. I'm still interested in a final production version though.

Cool. Can't plunk down for a proto but will be waiting patiently to see it run through its paces here.

No volume control? To bad

"Unity gain" just doesn't mean much with a device the radically changes the frequency response like a filter does.

ohh, i almost predicted a "new" pedal it some weeks ago: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showth...70#post9313970

prototype of mu-tron clone sounds VERY interesting to me, canīt get enough envelope filters on my board. the GR was my last purchase in the envelope section.

does a blend knob and fx-loop make sense in that new pedal?

True, I didn't notice that before. With my Mutron, I switched those modes all the time, that was half the fun of using it.

Very interested. I'll hold off for the actual release, but I'm very, very interested in this pedal

Nope, the whole idea of this is a less expensive, more stripped-down filter.

Being a filter phreak (Qtron+,Bass Balls, Pigtronix EP-1, Dod FX-25, Line 6 FM4, Digitech Bass Synth Wah) I'll put my name forward, if they're interested in sending one overseas (I understand if they don't want the hassle) and will happily cover international postage, if it's not ridiculous.

I really want a good, 'tron-ish filter in a Boss/Mxr-ish size box that runs on a standard 9 volt supply.

I would definitely rather see the LP/BP/HP switch on the outside. It's something I use all the time. Would it make the pedal bigger than you'd like, Spencer?

+1 on wanting the switch external. It would be like making a distortion pedal with the drive knob on an internal trim pot.

+1 to an external filter type selector as opposed to an internal one
