New advice on compression and overdrive

Sign in to disble this ad
I am new to BG, about 4 months in. Making decent progress.
Epi Bird with some Fender 9050ML's that I really like so far. Play mostly classic rock and backup for acoustic stuff.

I have a basic understanding of what compression is for, virtually none on overdrive.

What if anything should I get? Money IS an object, but I will spend enough to avoid junk.

Any advice is welcome!

Overdrive is an effect similar to "overdriving" a tube amp. Same family as distortion and fuzz. Too many options to suggest any, it's personal preference.

If you intend to use overdrive you may not need a compressor. Since you say money is an object… I suggest you try an overdrive first.

Overdrives naturally compress dynamics. If you find a mild to medium gain OD based off a Tube Screamer circuit with a dry blend you may find a compressor unnecessary.

Any suggestion on an overdrive? I wouldn't know good from bad at this point.
