Got to do load out for Tnd a couple days ago and checked out his board, which a gear nut would love. Heres the chain:
Boss OC-2 -> Moog FreqBox -> BassPodXT -> Moog Lowpass -> Ampeg tube head -> ampeg 8x10
Expression pedals on all the knobs for both moogs except Mix on the Freqbox, and only 2 on the lowpass (im assuming they were cutoff and resonance). All in all there were 6 expression pedals, and he made extensive use of this which I could see from the side of the stage. The lowpass filter after the BassPodXT was used to create waves of distortion opening and closing the filter, I could see him rocking the expression pedals. My friends in the crowd described the freqbox sound and when I told them what it was, they were surprised it was coming from the bass player.
He used the freqbox quite a bit, which was described by my drummer in the audience as sounding "like a chainsaw".
The bass was a fender 4 string. I wanted to ask Dan about his moogerfoogers because i myself have a lowpass filter that I've had to take out of my chain because of the increasing background noise it creates(im pretty sure theres something wrong, it didnt used to be so bad), but he was gone right after their set.
Also, I just got an internship at this venue lined up for next semester, so im going to haveto get myself a camera sometime before then.
Also interesting, the bass was not miced, but instead run through a venue direct box post effects and sounded very clean, so apparently these moog boxes can be very clean which gives me hope for mine.
hope you guys enjoy this info!
