So, the other day I played through my friends 300 watt Solid State Randall guitar amp (the G3 I believe) through his 2x12 + 1x15 guitar cab with Eminence legends speakers. It was possibly the nastiest, rattiest, most disgusting distortion I had ever heard and.... I loved it! So my real question is, does anyone do something like this? Use a ****** guitar amp for their distortion? |

| | | | Well, a ton of my favorite artists happen to use guitar amps for their distortion and the only problems that may arise would be the cab but the specific cab I was using is rated for both guitar and bass, also if you haven't noticed already my taste is questioned by a lot of people when it comes to my distortion. I tend to like things that sound "bad" or create feedback and this would mostly be used for a noise project I'm trying to put together.
EDIT: to wizay that was actually something I was considering doing but I have no clue how to put that together, at the moment I have an amp switcher that I was planning on using but IDK how to split the signal like you are suggesting |

Or maybe a less expensive solution is to make a new jack in ur bass, running two cables from the bass
Then, roll off bass on guitarrig, highs down and bass up on bass amp. I think Billy Sheehan Does the same thing. (among others)

Just split the signal with a crossover, or even a dirt pedal that rolls off a lot of low end, and feed that into the guitar amp. Some dirt pedals even have a "tone" or EQ knob which can be used to roll off the lows. |

But don't quote me on that
edit: nevermind

| | | | That's actually the video/person who made me decide to go this way, I am probably gonna end up with a setup similar to hers except with a cranked solid state guitar amp for that nasty, ratty, distortion over the Mesa, I may get a multi effects for my modulations and use said guitar amp for distortion next to a clean Mesa bass amp. |
