New EHX Nano Pedal - Steel Leather

Sign in to disble this ad
Got an email from EHX today about this new pedal made for Bass. here's what it said

The STEEL LEATHER is a controllable percusive / attack effect designed specifically for bass guitar. Any bass player who wants to cut rough will find the STEEL LEATHER a must have. From a chamois touch to Thor's hammer, the STEEL LEATHER places the electric bass where it should be. Cunningly defined and right in the mix.

There was much made of it in the two NAMM threads. AFAICT it's an expander focused on the bass frequencies, which would be useful for somebody who had a bass with an anemic low end, but would be speaker-murder for anybody whose low end is already loud and spiky. Of course that's based on NAMM blather, not in-hand facts.

Helpful hint: when you read a term that you're unfamiliar with, look it up on Google, wikipedia, etc.

Or here: http://www.ev-b.com/compfaq.html#gate

Holy trinity of information:
Google, Wikipedia, and Bongomania's compressor FAQs!

It seems like you might be able to set it to create a gravity bomb "boom" effect, a la the TR 808.

I'm curious to try it out.

Percussive attack. I'll think I'll have to get that. It would be a good counter to your strings going dead, methinks.

Gotta know when it comes out.

There's an amazing site called Google which tells you everything you ever needed to know.

I'll definitely try one out when it's released, even though I probably have no use for it.

Oh crap, good call. I thought that it didn't look right but I couldn't remember anything else. Thanks for the correction.

Yeah, that always cracks me up. Does anyone who spends time on a message board really have such precious little time to spare that they can't answer a guy's question about what some cyber geek abbreviation stands for?

LOL no kidding. I am on this forum because I enjoy learning about all things bass. If I have to go and Google "cyber geek abbreviations" just to understand what people are talking about because it's too much of a burden to get a simple answer, then I guess I am in the wrong forum. I didn't ask "what's the best distortion pedal?" or "how do I set up my signal chain?". Was not trying to create an international incident over AFAICT. (BAD WORD) (BAD WORD)

Didn't mean to seem like an ******* there, it's just a side effect of spending too much time on this forum. There's been a few smackdowns issued lately, and I was just getting into the spirit of things! Bongo, we need to take a chill pill, maybe eat some of those mushrooms you've been growing in your dirtbox. Lesson learned - If it riles you that people ask questions here because they're too lazy to search elsewhere, then just leave it to somebody else to step in and be helpful and reply rather than bitching about it and frightening people off.

Group hug?

I did laugh though when I read in another post that you were being attacked from England!
