New EHX pedals (DEAR LORD!)

Sign in to disble this ad
Haven't found any information, but I came across this today on the Ilovefuzz forums.

The .44 Caliber Power Amp...

And, well, the picture speaks for its self.

I'm looking forward for official information

Meh... $193 is pretty steep

http://www.musicradar.com/news/guita...mm-2010-253517

I can't imagine it being all that close to the 'muff sound'.

For some reason that link doesn't work for me. I realized after posting this thread, I should have looked at EHX's forums. When is Summer NAMM?

Anyway, I guess $193 is pushing it a little bit, but I spent more on my SMMwH, so that doesn't bother me. It seems like it has a lot going on for it. And I wouldn't really care if it doesn't get close to the 'muff sound.' If that's what I wanted, I would get a Muff.

Not that I'm saying I want this. But I'd definitely like to hear it.

phew well that's the jerk post out of the way.

the Germanium muff looks good, same idea as the Attack Goat i guess? have EHX ever done an o/d that was convincing??

also would be interested to see the practical difference in the new pedal-power amp...

I really dug the germanium OD, so this could possibly be cool. I don't think 193 is all that steep for a dual drive/fuzz pedal. I like that they have the volts knob there too. Germanium trannies sound great when you starve them.

I know this is the effects forum, but I'm very interested in the 44. Especially a pair of them as a stereo amp setup right on your pedalboard - awesome. 88 watts is usable to me.

If I were a guitar player, I'd definitely be GAS'in for the .44 magnum. That along with like a sansamp triac or something into a 1x12 would be pretty fun.

+1

It looks like something to have fun experimenting with, but at a cost!

I've had great success recording with a NYC Big Muff into an EHX Germ OD. Doesn't sound as good through an amp, but I'm guessing this dual pedal will be pretty close to that sound. FWIW, the BBM sounds pretty decent through the Germ as well.

Don't they already have a 22 caliber out? The only difference here is the wattage of (i take it) 44 watts? What the hell! Why don't they make a version aimed at bass frequencies and wattage requirements instead? I would buy that.

Probably.

with that name, it prob should be

but it would not suprise me if it was just a character type knob, with that name to make you feel like this pedal is doing something special.
