New Morley Mini pedals

Sign in to disble this ad

Morley has mini volume and wah pedals coming out in March. They look pretty cool, but they are optical, which means they will be tough to use/mod for expression use.

Speaking of which, does anyone know how to mod an optical volume to be used an expression pedal?

BTW, I think they will be about $60 street.

Man- the volume would be perfect if they didn't have the box extending to the right of the pedal. 6.75" is great and shorter than most any other volume out there, but the 4.5" width is too wide

I agree it could be smaller, but I wouldn't call it too wide. It might be too wide for your board, but maybe that's what you meant in the first place. I created this image with pedalboardplanner.com to show how it fits on a PT mini with some other very common pedals. The Morley is represented by the two blanks I put together.

My complaint is more with the fact that it's only available as a active optical pedal. Of course, if it were passive, it would probably be smaller too.

As far as I know it's the smallest VP in production right now (I'm aware of the discontinued FX17 and RFX 402). I wish Effector 13 had worked out that mini expression pedal thing they were planning.

There's a thread over at Harmony Central about that- apparently a tester found it to be too difficult/problematic, so Devi didn't continue in that direction.

Why are volume pedals so big? It seems to me they could be as small as anything else.

DOD made a volume/wah that was extremely small.

Looks like a slight throwback to the novelty of the Compact Series.

I'm glad they keep it optical ,that's the identity of a Morley.

I'm huge though, so I do prefer bigger pedals, which explains my other Morleys, ranging from "Looks clunky" new models to "And you can pick that up!?" Tel-Rays.

Morelys are my standbys for life. I don't doubt they'll outlive me.

Nope- that's something a lot of us want. Smallest current exp. pedal on the market (meaning not an FX-17 or sewing machine pedal modded to be an exp.) is the Roland EV-5. It's unfortunately an all-plastic design with an attached cable, and still bigger than a lot of folks need.

Yeah... Someone out there needs to hear our cry for one.

I had a morley slmc-6. Only ever had it at full volume or all the way off. It took up half of my board so I replaced it with a mute switch. I have the planet waves circuit breaker cable also, but it's nice to have a stomp kill switch. If somebody made a vol/wah/exp the size of a boss single, that would certainly sell.

I e-mailed pedalenclosures.com about making a custom exp. enclosure today. I basically asked for something about 6"x3". I mentioned ordering a bunch as I know I could sell them on various forums easily. I'll let you guys know when I get a response.

Yes I have. but I would Prefer a Wah/volume like pedal. since its going to be on my board it would be easier to rock my foot back and foward. with that i'd be doing the mash potato while playing.

Maybe I'll give it a try.

I'll be taking the plunge on the Mini Wah as soon as it comes out. I haven't done a pedal review in ages, so I'm sure the Effects Forum would enjoy a new rant/rave from yours truly.

I've always enjoyed the Morley sound, so it'll be interesting to see how this pedalboard-friendly version stacks up against its bigger brothers (and more importantly, which Morley wah it most resembles, sonically).

And now I've acquired said Morley Mini Wah. Expect a review soon!

Oh, and in case you didn't notice... I've undergone a username change. MysticBoo is no more. I now go by the name you'd recognize if you met me in person at a gig or elsewhere.
