Not sure if I like the prospect of the MXR Bass Overdrive as much now thanks to the description of the clean control. Why can't the clean control just be... clean? Why does it have to have a pre-set EQ on it? "I want my clean control to be colored," said no bassist ever...

It might emphasize the frequencies that the overdrive side does not, thereby creating a sort of balance.

Just as long as it's not a mid scoop or a super obtrusive mid hump, I guess it will be okay. I also hope it's just not the same clean control that was on the Pork Loin as I was more hoping for a true clean blend in the first place.

To be honest I would prefer a mid scoop on the clean side. Nothing too extreme. Just enough to remove a little honk. I play a mid heavy bass though.

I'm not sure. When we see a pedal that has a feature like "dial this knob up to retain more of your lows" we all kind of dig it. Supposing the way they actually did it was to blend in your clean signal--after it had been put through a low pass filter. That would be a clean blend with a pre set EQ.

Well... seeing as my entire pedal board is MXR/Way Huge, I suppose I'll trust them enough to know what they're doing. ;-)

I wonder if there's an internal curve control or if not what fixed setting that parameter has been set at.

I'm ready to see/hear some snippets of this new overdrive...

And to be completely honest, the promise of this new overdrive is the only reason I've not yet purchased the Bass Fuzz Dlx. I think I might be more inclined to like the overdrive better, for "my" sound.

WE NEED A DEMO!!!!!!

So last night was my first practice with my new Fender 100t head. I was using the overdrive channel a lot, and I found that stacking it with the Pork Loin didn't really add much, there's just not enough drive. I'd ideally like to run my amp on 'just breaking up', and be able to kick on a pedal for a heavily OD'd sound when I need it. So I'm really looking to try out this new MXR OD, if it sounds like the PL but with some more gain it'll suit me perfectly. Really looking forward to trying one out when they become available.

Yes, there's definitely more gain. Like the Fulltone Bass-Drive, this little guy will damned near reach fuzz territory.
Unlike the Fulltone, this has more beef to it!

Nice, thanks Vegas. Props to MXR as well, it looks like they took the PL, which is popular with bassists, added a clean blend and more drive, and took away some of the features, like the low pass filter, which aren't really that useful for bass. Nice to see the attention to detail from MXR.

There is a demo up on face book of the chorus pedal but I can't put up a link that works.

Ok finally figured it out. This thing sounds amazing from the demo I can't wait.
