New Pedal Problems...

Sign in to disble this ad
I picked up a colorsound tonebender fuzz the other day. I was super stoked to get it and then I realized there was no jack for the adaptor. It only takes 9-volt batteries. Totally blew my tonebender kick I was on for a while. So is there any way to fix this without major surgery? Batteries are expensive, and usually unreliable. And don't get me wrong, the pedal sounds great. But I would rather plug in. What can I do??

Also while I got this post here... I'm looking into getting an auto-wah. But I dont know of any good ones that work well with bass. You guys got any suggestions?

Any electronics tech could install an adaptor, Keeley installed one on the Tonebender I had. I'm sure Ryan at fuzzrocious could do it...hit him up, his talkbass name is rratajski.

it doesn't have a battery hatch so is a litle impractical. Batterys aren't THAT expensive or unreliable and the circuit uses a fairly low current so just carry a spare the battery should last months at a time a long as you take out the input jack when your not using it

Wow... You guys are awsome...

I'll look into that in a day or so. Also. About the auto-wah. Which one works best for bass freq?

Have you considered an envelope filter as an alternative to an auto wah? When I did a side-by-side of a filter and an auto-way I realized I wanted the filter instead.

+1
Usually all the good power supplies (Voodoo Lab, Dunlop brick) all come with cables INCLUDING that specific cable for a 9 volt hookup.

Honestly, I'll try anything... except crack cocaine, and heroine

Well, What I wanted to do was get a combination of effects. And I've heard some cool things done with an auto wah and distortion/fuzz to create another synth sound. If an envelope filter will do the trick... so be it. If so, what one would you suggest? I've seen some guys talking about the Q-tron (sp?). I was gonna go to GC today and test drive some stuff.

From my limited experience: with Filters you need to take some time to find the sweet spot where you "play the pedal" (ie. open and close the filter based on your playing touch. Mess with the Sensitivity (aka SENS) to get the filter to respond. I'm pretty sure you have a lot more control (and creativity) with a filter vs Autowah.

I just drilled a hole in the casing and used one of those battery clip adapters
