Im in a "deathcore" and i would like something to give me the sound that is more metal like the band Bring Me The Horizon or Suicide Silence.
What would be the best pedal to make my bass sound like that?
thanks for any suggestions |

It's a simple tube amp emulator, and it will plug you into the house sound system when you play out. I have the SansAmp Bass VT, which I love, but it doesn't have the DI output. It is $50 cheaper, though, and it's a lot more versitile.
Other things to look into would be a full-on fuzz (the Electro-Harmonix Bass Big Muff is a great pedal for $75) and possibly a delay or chorus. If you end up using a lot of distortion and effects, it will be WELL worth your money to pick up something like a BOSS NS-2 noise suppressor. I have one, and it was far and away the best $50 I've ever spent on music gear. A good tuner pedal is also going to be indispensable if you're playing live. The Ibanez LU-20 is a pretty solid one that's available for $40 or so. |

and you definately would want to look into fuzzes. due to personal experiences with EHX i wouldent reccomend them, but everyone else probably will. for fuzzes if i were you i would look into devi ever..i just ordered one myself, theyre pretty extreme sounding fuzzes from what i understand.
other than that, maybe a flange or delay or some sort of flavor effect. give us more of what your looking to sound like and we'll rattle off tons of cool little noise boxes. |

Draw on your influences. Seems to me you might find some things you can use if you check out the Pedal Boards of the Stars thread and try a search. You can see what those guys use. You can start to figure out what makes what sound you've heard in listening to them and build off of that. Note that there are other PB's of the Stars threads.
I also agree that the 3 channel Sansamp Bass Driver DI is not only a good sounding pedal, but an awesome "swiss army knife".

First, get Boss ODB-3. Has enough versatility to let you dial in what you want.
Second, get Boss Super Octave OC-3. Plug it into the ODB-3, set the OC-3 in Drive mode, put in your ear plugs, crank up your amp's volume and blow your guitar player away!

I'm also in a tech metal type of band and I was trying to incorporate more effects into my arsenal but the more effects I ran through my bass the more I would get lost in the mix. I play 90% clean and add a little boost with an overdrive pedal. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
