New to signal splitters/ DI - requesting help

hello,

i'm a total noob when it comes to the following problem and i was hoping you guys could help out.

i don't know how well thought this enterprise is but this is what i worked out so far:

my band and i would like to use the line outs (guitar amps), the DI out (bass) and the mono line out (trigger module drums) for in ear monitoring purposes.

so i thought the signal routing goes as follows:
instrument cables-> amps -> amps' line outs/DI's ->
signal splitter -> one signal goes to the stagebox for FOH, the other one to the in ear mixing console

can this work?
three problems potential problems i see here:

1. would i need a DI box for every amplifier/trigger module to prepare the signal for the splitter box?(that would mean 4 DI boxes)
2. what splitters would do the job here? the stageboxes i know require XLR male cables to be connected to the them. the signal coming from the DI boxes is what?
3. would i need an in ear mixing console with at least 4 mic inputs for the signal coming from the signal splitter?

as you can see this is pretty confusing and i hope somebody can understand what my problem is and help me out?

ultimately i need the cheapest and easiest way to have our instruments' line out/DI signal go to the FOH and in ear mixing console at the same time.

thanks, i appreciate your help.

you would need DI's for every line that you have, and a transformer based mic splitter for each of those lines (post DI)... then you would need a monitor console (with as many discrete mixes as band members) with enough mic inputs to handle the number of DI lines...

then you would probably want a few compressors to put on stuff, even just as a brickwall limiter, so you don't have your hearing destroyed by an overzealous guitarist's 'lead patch', etc....

you'll also need someone who is either so good at their instrument that they can run monitor world and play awesomely at the same time, or a dedicated monitor engineer.

any in ear situation with a full split scenario requires a bunch of gear. having all your own DI's and splitters means, however, that you can walk into any club, just tell the FOH engineer how many XLR's you need, and patch to your splitter box.

personally, i would mic the guitar amps instead of DI...
