Hopefully Bongo will see this thread. I am wondering if the new changes help with the noise or improve Low end. Hopefully Bongo can pick one up and give us his new review. keep up the good work Bongo.

From the ad copy:
NEW FEATURES! Elna silk particulate audio caps, Panasonic and Wima film caps. Enhanced circuit with 2-3db increased available output to help match higher output pickups.

I think Bongo did revisit the Tone Press for an updated review, but I'm not sure if it was the newest vesrion. When were the components and circuit updated?

The updated review I did was a little bit before this latest version was released. Side note: the "custom color" red Tone Presses are the same internally as these new updated black ones.

Using a different style of caps could potentially have some effect on the tone, but would not have any relationship to the noise or low end response. The noise is from the gain stage, not the caps; and the low end response might be affected by different capacitive values, but not different capacitive materials or even quality.

The added 2-3 dB of makeup gain is only useful in cases where somebody is having a hard time getting unity gain (same volume whether the effect is on or bypassed). It wouldn't have an effect on the noise or low end either.

IOW I'm sure it's nice, but it's not a big deal from a bass perspective.

Thanks for the comment Bongo. I was hoping Barber would address the noise and make the TP as quiet as my Diamond Bass comp is.

I'm very familiar with the Press as I've owned my first one since 2006... and yes -the old circuit was a bit hissy... I just received my new one yesterday and was completely impressed buy it's performance. extremely quite and very warm and musical.
