I saw that... and it looks very cool; but, what I want, is Matt to design and make a low-medium gain overdrive. Something in the Phat Phuck tone zone, but with some control over volume and gain and maybe some EQ.

I know there are others out there... I use a Bass BB, but I have the feeling that if Matt put his mind to it, he could come up with something special.

That would be a definite win.

I'm excited about this pedal too.

matt, i agree with you a 1000% on this one. i love the phuk but sold mine because of lack of eq options and external gain control. i hated selling it, and i have to say that its one of the best built pedals i've had the privilege of owning/gigging. there's just so many options for early russian based muffs out there already.......probably not many that will be built this well, though.

i'm actually really looking forward to the weird, Wren & Cuff original he has planned. good chance i'm going to try to get on that.

from the newsletter........

"The Gray Box tone mangler (audio clip available): A stompbox without a category. Not a clone of anything, a Wren and Cuff original!!!"

that sounds kinda delicious. haven't listened to the clips yet. off to do that now.

away internet away!

I'd love to A/B this with a Stomp Under Foot Green Russian

I love my Phat Phuk B beyond words, really puts a smile on my face ....and Matt at W&C is a good guy. I also had a PPB and believe me these pedals are top notch in build quality and parts.

What I really want to ask Matt is if this can come with the same blend feature as the PPB and Tri Pie...that alone might edge it over the SUF Green Russian or Civil War.....which really don't get enough love around here imho.

oooh - just when i go and order a tri pie the little monkey goes and puts out a pedal like this...

Some day soon I could quite seriously end up with a wren and cuff-filled board of filth

Wow, that's a hell of a compliment. Thx. Yes, blend is available and free for tall font pre-orders and the Tri as a promo. Same blend as PPieB.

Focusing on the Phat Phuk as far as non-fuzzy stuff goes for now. Set out to try to put a new spin on something as simple as a boost. A tough task. But I'm really proud of this thing and I'm not afraid to be honest and say, it feels really good to get all the compliments. A little validation goes a long way! No OD in the works for now.

The Tri and Rush are putting big smiles on my face now (and the pickle B is still kicking doors down). These will be the last muffs for us. Like many here I just love the damn things. I have spent way too many hours hammering out the nuances of this circuit. If any of you read the Outliers book, I did the math the other day and realized that I'm just over my 10,000 hours. Kinda freaky...

That's cool Matt... I love my Tri Pie and what you did with that just got me thinking about what you might cook-up in the OD department.

I'll chime in that the only thing that's keeping me away from a Phuk is a volume out control. Sweeping through tone settings just make it harder to be happy with a good thing.

I've never tried one of the pedals in person but the more clips I listen to, the more I agonize over wanting one.

the control on the top of the phat phuk b IS a volume, there is no tone control on the pedal

Yeah, but I want to drive the pedal to get it's character without boosting the signal. I was looking for a post-volume knob. Then it can be a mild OD pedal or still a booster with character. Kind of like Boss BD-2 for guitar except without a tone control in the way.
