Newbie question about Blender or Boost

Sign in to disble this ad
Sorry folks if there' s a post about this before. Couldn' t find it in the search topics.

First of all. Are Blender the same as a Boost?

My main question is: If I have a blender. Can I use any guitar effects without loosing the low end? I just want the bass to always be there. Not thin.

thank you,

Richie

No, they are not the same thing. A blender is essentially a small mixer, a boost is a small preamp.

A blender is for mixing two signals. A boost is for increasing volume of one signal.

Many blenders also contain a boost, but you can't assume it.

Yes, a blender is the perfect tool for bringing some low end back to any effect that cuts off the low end. Be aware though that some overdrives will lose even more low end when you blend them, due to phase cancellation. So in those individual cases, it's good to have a blender with a phase switch.

Another option is a blender with a crossover, like the one made by [sfx].
