A little weird, but...
I practice through my friend's vintage tube guitar amp when my amp is resting elsewhere, and I love the tube compression and gentle overdrive. My normal amp is an SWR LA15 (I rarely play big gigs, and when I do, 100w is plenty for monitoring purposes while I stick with house support).
I bought one of these to experiment with (and hopefully hot-rod) for my studio, and figured I'd toss it on my pedalboard. If it sounds good, I'll mod it to lean towards bass, up the plate voltage on the tube, and put a footswitch on it!
Black Lion Audio used to have a mod for this, involving changing power caps, changing audio signal caps, swapping out the cheap TL072s for something nicer like Burr Brown OPA2134s, and upping the plate voltage of the tube. I'm going to do my best on the mod, and hopefully use it on my board and/or in the studio.
Wish me luck
I'll let you fellas know how it goes.
