So I always sit around and wonder about what the next effect pedal that you can buy at a honest price now, then it will be discontinued, and all of the sudden everyone in the world is gonna be willing to sell their firstborn for it. I remember when the Unibass and Deep Impact were getting blown out at mf for $99, and I didn't blink an eye at them, that investment could have given real estate a run for it's money............
So what do YOU think is next on the block?

Just off the top of my head, my guess would be the Ampeg Scrambler pedals. |

I was holding onto it for awhile after I lost interest in it because I thought it would become the next Space Station, but I think there's a definite trend away from rackmount effects towards stompboxes. I managed to sell it for about 1.5 times what I paid, but I don't think it's going to gain much more value than that.
I also had a Premier spring reverb that I sold for about $125 more than I paid. If you see one of those for $200 or so, snag it, because it's one of those under the radar things that few people know about, but the ones that do will pay much more than that for one. I also somehow landed a Tube Works reverb for $150, but I've seen them go for $700 on ebay (I guess Jerry Garcia used one, so there are some people who are really dying for them). I'm holding onto it, not because of the value, but because I really like it.
Although it's fun to flip things for some quick cash, I wouldn't try to anticipate what's going to get big, unless you're friends with Justin Chancellor or Chris Wolstenholme and you can get him to use it. That would guarantee a nice return on your money. Now when is one of those guys going to start a playing a Crate amp, so I can unload my old one for a princely sum? |

I remember last time they discontinued them they were going for about a grand. Right now they are at about 5 bills...now's the time, who knows when they might issue them again.
