NIN Specific Fuzz?

Sign in to disble this ad
What pedal would be great to imitate the bass heard on most of The Slip? Like in Letting You and Discipline? I love that tone, idk if that would be a fuzz or od. My guess is a fuzz. Can someone help me decide what would most closely imitate this. And I have two overdrives right now. Tech 21 Vt and Boss OS 2. Help?

Letting You and Discipline are mostly synth from what I can tell, but there are parts where a fuzzy bass punches through. For that good old NIN industrial fuzz, the "Brassmaster family" of fuzzes work best. Those who've seen prior posts I've made on industrial fuzz tones pretty much already know which one I'm going to recommend.

I don't want to be cheap, but I need something under 100 right now. I would love the Soda Meiser though

Consider asking JMJ in his forum here on TB - not sure if he's on the record, but he's part of the current live band (unless it's already changed again...).

I know for a fact quite a few devi ever pedals were used for ghosts I-IV...

using the devi ever bass fuzz can get some good stuff cos you can change the texture with the filter knob and intensity switch... some nice synthy fuzz to some over the top roaring wall of fuzz... that said its the only devi ever I own, may be the others will get you closer to the speficic NIN sounds your after?

I play in a band which does a bit of NIN stuff (1,000,000 and The Hand That Feeds), my go to fuzz is the DeviEver/Effector13/Oohlala Soda Meiser. It gets a really nice fuzz sound that does NIN stuff well. As a bonus I can use the Chaos mode to do the oscillating high pitch squeal in 1,000,000. From what I have read Trent uses a SM (not sure which instrument though) unfortunately its a little on the pricey side (especially when it has only 1 knob to affect the tone).

I seem to recall that Tayste mentioned that the FZ-2 was pretty good for the NIN stuff...

When you get a little, why don't you contact Devi and ask what she recommends?

Im pretty sure jeordie white was using a swollen pickle while with NIN. but you could try looking into wren and cuff pickle pie B fuzz pedal. It will get the job done
