I like the BF-3 for its extra features, and the BF-2 was no longer sold when I bought my BF-3. I'd still like to get a BF-2 someday.

I tried a friend's BF-2 and was not impressed. I've read in other TB threads at e Japanese BF-2 is the really good one.

Try a local guitar center or other music shop--the BF-2 is a very common pedal to find used.

I just bought a BF-3. Can't wait to hear it. It has some great features and seems like it should do the trick. Since I am a pedal newbie, I am looking forward to giving it a whirl

The BF-3 was the first pedal I actually bought(wasn't given to me as a gift) and was also my first pedal that was not distortion

The BF-2 sounds good (I used one for years) but unmodded they really gut the low end.

I haven't experienced any loss of low-end whatsoever with mine (MIJ, black label, black screw version) and it's totally stock.

Maybe they very some because I had the same japan version .... granted, "gutting the low end " my have been a little strong but it def did effect the low end.... I ran biamped back then because of the BF-2 & CE-2.

Or maybe our definition of low end differs

Luv the BF-2, it's my favorite flanger.
The BF-3 sounds great but I can't get pass the fact that it's digial. I don't like anything digital in my system - just a personal thing.

I just scored a near mint BF-2B Japanese and dead mint BF-2 Japanese with he old black knobs. The same settings the sound way different no mater where they are dialed to. The BF-2 has a much more 3D tone and the BF-2B is more of an icing on the cake sound. I am really digging them both for what each can do so I am keeping them. I have 2 Japanese CE-2s that sound great but gonna keep them on the guitar rig and I have an analog CE-5 coming soon for the bass rig.

I have had the BF-2B in the past and did not like it as much as the BF-2.
I have acquired a BF-2 Japanese black label (an early BF-2) and I am about to do a shoot out against my Indonesian BF-2. The should sound the same, but who knows?

I like the boss bf-3. I've heard how this pedal sounds on bass and I think it sounds phenomenal. sure, many people favor the boss bf-2 mainly because of it's analog circuitry and the fact that it's got a much warmer sound, but I do like who sweet and lushful the boss bf-3 sounded. it's really a great flanger pedal.

My buddy has a BF-3. Sounds like a shoot out is in need between the BF-2, BF-2B and BF-3! I'll see if I can borrow his for a few days.
