Non-velcro pedal attachment?

Sign in to disble this ad
Any ideas on attaching pedals *non-permanently* to a pedal board? Quick 'n' dirty is fine by me. It doesn't have to be attractive, it just has to work.

I swap and change stuff a round all the time, and if possible I'd like to avoid sticking velcro on my pedals. One alternative I have used is drilling a hole on the board on either side of the pedal and clamping 'em down using cable ties, but eventually the board gets full of holes.

It's no big deal; if I have to use velcro I will but I was wondering if people in the TB community had some practical alternatives...

If you remove the base of your pedal, run tape around the base adhesive side up, then run more tape around the tape adhesive side down, you can stick the velcro to the tape and when it is time to sell the pedal, you just cut the tape with a pair of scissors and your pedal is none the worse for wear. I like using packing tape for this.

This also works well to stretch the velcro to the board a little when a pedal has feet, or when it has a rubber base like DOD or Boss have. It also works to mount a riser if the switch on a pedal is too low and in tight quarters.

I'm not sure if this is the solution you were looking for, but it works for all my pedals and I don't even swap mine out much anymore.

Is this like the stuff we use for sticking up posters that's like putty but doesn't set (Bluetak)?

Nobels Mounty Ps.
Just, buy them for a couple cents at Home Depot instead of a couple bucks on a music site.

cheaper than the nobels thingie:
take apart an old bicycle chain, and use the side parts to screw the pedals on to the board.
of course, clean the links before using
