I'm bummed. I see you guys talking about the funny names of your effects, and none of mine have one. The closest I have is the Deluxe Electric Mistress, which isn't all that funny compared to Hairy Balls or Polish Love. I feel like I'm missing something. Does the name help you enjoy your pedals more? I feel like a boring old fart with pedals like Microbass II and VT and I want to live it up.

But I could imagine screaming something like "TIME FOR ME TO KICK IN THE HAIRY BALLS" would be pretty classic.

Actually the lady at the post office thought I was crazy when I said that I was sending my Hematoma to Optimus Prime......
Who knew that the leader of the Autobots needed my really bad bruise.... |

The Big Muff still gets a lot of laughs from many people I know. There's so many tongue-in-cheek clones out there too: Wren and Cuff Pickle Pie, Way Huge Swollen Pickle, BYOC Large Beaver, Skreddy Pink Flesh, I'm sure there's a ridiculously endless list. As for me, the only other pedal that I have with a silly name is my Malekko Heavy Industry Barker Assmaster (AKA the B:Assmaster for short, but I like calling it the Assmaster ). Everything else is pretty boring name-wise. |

Originally Posted by DanielTulip You know, this muff talk is reminding me that I have never tried a big muff...... | TBH it's not very βΘИΞКЯŲŜĦÏИĞ. More of a treble-side fuzz with lots of low-end loss. Quote:

Originally Posted by Suprise Panda! Yeah I really don't like it on my bass | I'm apt to agree that the Big Muff is a one trick pony. Sure there's a tone knob, and a sustain knob, but it's gonna sound like a Big Muff no matter what setting you use. That being said, it's definitely a love it / hate it kind of effect. I have mine in a blend loop, so I don't suffer the low end loss. Personally I like it, but use it mainly when the guitarist wants to do some lead work to fill in the rhythm section. There are tons of clones (and now even an official EHX Bass Big Muff) that do not lose as much/any low end, and have many different sounds contained within. They're all worth a look at / listen to. |

My pedalboard can get quite explicit when I start describing my signal chain:
"I put my Bass Balls behind my Big Muff for a nice low-end bubble, then I run that through a blue box..." |
