Noob Question Regarding Amp FX Loops

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, I finally have a small collection of effect pedals set up in a chain and wanted your guys input on whether I should run my chain as bass (Ibanez SR 900) > effects > amp (Nemesis NA650) or have my effects run through my amps FX send and return inputs. would this make my clean signal better? Also, I use a Bad Monkey tube distortion which is on pretty much all the time to fatten my tone a little, so should I run that like bass > Bad Monkey > amp with the rest of my effects through the loop? Currently my chain is bass > MXR carbon copy > EHX Q-Tron+ > HBE Hematoma > EHX Bass Big Muff > Bad Monkey. Anyone have any suggestions for changing the placement of my delay pedal? I want to make sure my Q-Tron is in front of my gain section. Thanks for the help.

Generally, the FX loop is meant for Rack type gear. Its to do with the line levels.

Try either, you won't hurt anything. My preference is Bass -> Effects -> Amp

As for the other questions, its all about experimenting.

I would completely reverse the order of your effects and put the fuzz first. But thats just me.
