Not sure on how to proceed (Line 6/Musicians Friend Content)...

Sign in to disble this ad
Well, The last day in may I sent out a money order to Musician's Friend for a Line 6 Verbzilla. Their website said they had it in stock, so I was hoping to get it relatively soon. I even called them, and they said I would receive it in about a week or so. About the 15th or so of June, I get a post-card type thing in the mail, that says they should be receiving the pedal in 30 days....waht? So I got kind of pissed off, but waited until July.

So I call them. They told me there was a waiting list and stuff, and that they are only getting in 8 pedals, and so the first 8 people on the list would get them. She said I was the 10th person and should be getting it when the next batch shipped. She said they should be receiving them mid-July.

Today I got another post-card thing in the mail (that said the day I placed me order was July 6th?), and it said my order would be cancelled unless I call up to say I still wanted the pedal. At the bottom of the card, it said they should be getting them within 30 days...

Normally, I wouldn't really care about waiting, but there's that Line 6 offer thing, and I could go for a free Echo Park.

http://www.line6.com/getdata?table=a...heet_v2_US.pdf

I know the offer applies to when I accually ORDERED the pedal, but the people at Musicians Friend apparently changed that. And I fear they may change it again if by some chance I don't get the verbzilla during this round of shipping (Which is apparently entirely possible).

Basically I'm not sure how to proceed, and am probably making a big deal out of nothing. Do I trust them to get me the pedal with an order date before the end of the month? Or should I cancel the order and buy somewhere else?

Er, sorry for the long post, and probably the bad grammar/sentence structure, I just got up and it kinda pissed me off...they said it was in stock when I ordered it, lol.

Damn I want my free module.

You're kinda screwed. Can't really do anything about it until after it happens, then it's too late.

The promo is coming from Line 6, not Musician's Friend. So, MF will likely not comp you a free pedal since MF was never giving free pedals in the first place.

Also, you realize that this is an offer for a free module, not for a free pedal.

Cancel and buy from American Musical - they have the same offer since it's coming from Line 6. This is one of the reasons I hate doing business with MF. They've done this same thing to me a time or two.

Ooops. I just checked further. AM is out of them too. Looks like a lot of people jumped on this. I would put the blame on Line 6 then. Stinks when a manufacturer runs a promo like this and then can't keep product in the vendor's inventory.

MF are so hit and miss. I've had great and horrible service from them, and avoid them as best I can because who knows how the spin the bottle tournament will end up with each and every order?

I would cancel and seek elsewhere. Maybe Evelyn can point you in the right direction.

They already have your money.

There is probably a legal loophole so they can get out of the "in stock at time of order thing".....

I would cancel on principle, which is easy if you pay by credit card, but might be difficult if you pay by money order.

The only way I know to deal with this is either to wait or give them so much sh*t that they put you to the front of the queue. By giving them sh*t I mean phoning them up at least 4 times a day, demanding to speak to the manager, complain about everybody's attitude, post your dissatisfaction on their forum and any other forum you can find. I mean, you've paid them your hard earned cash and they have n't fullfilled their part of the bargain.

If you can make enough of a nuisance of yourself and take up enough of a decision maker's time they will dispatch your goods just to get rid of you.

If you can't be bothered with that, and let's face it life is really to short to spend time on such a silly vendetta then just don't do business with them ever again.

There's a shop in London UK called Turnkey who gave terrible service for years. They have recently gone out of business.

Sweetwater appears to have it in stock:

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Verbzilla

Just call them up and tell them that you need to cancel and need a refund because the special offer from Line 6 expires at the end of the month. And remember that the special offer is just for the module, not an entire new pedal.

I called them back to say "hold my order, yo" and this guy says, "Ok, you'll get it about September 21st."

"What?"

Expletives.

If you get a similar notification from an online store, just immediately cancel the order and get it from another location, there's really no obligation to wait, unless we are talking about a really special deal worth waiting for.
