I recently had the pleasure to meet up with fellow TBer Shish for a trade.
I am now the proud owner of a Dr Scientist Cosmichorus. I am crazy about this pedal! I can't believe how great it really is. For the last year or so I have been playing with a Small Clone pedal. First I will say that it is easy to dial in a good chorus sound with the clone, and for around fifty bucks, there isn't a better chorus around. So, I have nothing bad to say about the Small Clone, and this is not a comparison, because that would not be fair.
At first I was intimidated by the amount of knobs and switches on the Cosmichorus. After a quick rundown of what they do from Shish, I was able to quickly dial in THE chorus sound I have been looking for. I was sold instantly. After hearing just one of the sonic possibilities I wanted it. I got to playing with the knobs, and I fell more in love with it. I was so amazed that with so many options, it is basically impossible to dial in a "bad" sound. Now, there are sounds that most of us will not be able to use in a band setting, but they all sound very nice.
I have now had a few hours to play with it, and really tweak things around and get used to the amount of settings. Some people may say that there are to many knobs on it, but they are all very well thought out. Every one has a very specific purpose and that is the key to this pedal. With this one pedal, I am able to call up very different sounding choruses quickly just by a turn of a knob, or the flick of a switch.
If you have not had the opportunity to play with one of these pedals, and you use chorus, then you owe it to yourself to try one of these out. You will not be disappointed.
