Hey there effects forum! Last foray I made here you guys were incredibly helpful, so I'm hopeful with my next questions:
My girlfriend got me a great gift card for Bill's Music for Christmas, and while browsing the used effects there I came across an EHX Tube EQ. Because on the front casing the "E" is a bit hidden, I first thought it was some kind of cool tube-powered QTron pedal. I plugged it in using a MusicMan Stingray (closest they had to my MusicMan SUB) and immediately fell in love with the warm sound. Once I figured out how to work it, and the parametric controls, I decided to buy it. (As a side note, the guys at Bill's Music are incredible. They were patient with me throughout, giving me tone suggestions and such. They even included the power supply for free, which generally doesn't happen.)
It adds a great sound for my GK 1001RBII set up, and I'm definitely satisfied with the quality of the pedal itself.
My current chain is now:
MusicMan SUB -> EHX Tube EQ -> Boss LS2 -> GK 1001RB-II
Boss LS2 = Guyatone TZ-2 Fuzz -> Guyatone MC-3 Micro Chorus -> ZVex Wooly Mammoth Clone
Now, I've seen next to nothing on this pedal, and even less for using it for bass. Has anyone here had success using it in their chain? Does switching the pre-amp tubes make any discernable difference? |
