NPD: Wounded Paw Attack Goat

I'm a little slow on the pedal trends of TB, but I got a used Attack Goat today.

I have to say, it's a pretty cool effect.

hint of octave up, some classic sounding spitty fuzz, great mid control, and blending.

It's pretty aggressive sounding....which I was hoping for....it should fill a much needed gap in my pedalboard full of similar sounding overdrives.

Been rocking one for about 6 months now, it is a great fuzz pedal. Recorded a track with it over the weekend and the studio engineer was really digging the fat sound with my P-Bass. I now have gas for a black sheep multiband OD to go along with the goat!

What are your settings? Are you going for a heavy fuzzed out tone or something a little less bold?

I think I have the tone @ 9pm, fuzz @ 2pm, blend near 3pm, and level to match.

I've had one for a couple of years. It would be on my list of must replace now if my board got lost list. I use it Last (before VT which is for tone) and while I do use it by itself sometimes, I'm usually using it to super-fuzz-up darker overdrives Or after MXR Octave dlx, into TAFM, into Goat for a real square wave low octave. I'm using the blend and drive at 11am and tone all the way left (to let most mids through). Something dark like a Cross Drive into Goat makes a synthy option...the Cross drive for it's attack envelope and the Goat to brighten it up so it cuts. It even sounds great after envelope/wah type effects. Prunes&Custard into Goat is pretty cool...Goat allows those mids through.

I just added a Wattson FY-6 in my Xotic blender, (before the envelopes on board) and it's a super-fuzz circuit with girth. That's about the only pedal that conflicts with the Goat.

I usually have it set with tone @ 11, drive @ 3, Blend @ 10 and the level about 11 as it relates to a clock position. For original music I like to blend in a lot of the clean bass signal, helps to maintain the low end thump. When we cover Black keys Howling for you I would have the blend set at about 3 o'clock just about opposite of my normal setting. Sometimes I will use it in combo with my Angler OD for a really aggressive tone. Also I really enjoy it with a chorus or flanger after, or with an OC-2 in front with an envelope filter after. Good modular synth tone from that combo.
