Yes, I just couldn't resist. GAS struck badly and now it's done.

And indeed, blame on you, fellow TBers (specially JimmyM).

I expect it to get here tomorrow morning.

No. You came, you read, you replied, the shame is on you!

Just kidding, I just did post a thread because I was always whining about NOT having a VT Bass.

Now I do. And feel proud.

You're killing me smalls...

Im not hating on the pedal at all or the fact you are a proud owner even......Its just seems redundant to have 12+ threads on the VT bass, unless you have some new ground breaking info on it. You could have just choose to write this one of the many threads already in the forum.

Isn't like that on everything? I mean, how many "best bass for metal", "why is Fender so popular" or any other redundant thread you see coming everyday?

It will arrive tomorrow morning, I just posted ahead because it got shipped today, so... Guess I'll spend the weekend finding out what settings will work for my setup.

Preamp.

I had an Ibanez Tubescreamer but now my Ampeg B3 have a drive knob. I'll see how the VT handles the grit, maybe I'll keep it cranked up just before the dirt starts and use the footswitchable EQ in my amp to boost some frequencies so the drive shows up.

I have an Yamaha Flanger/Chorus and a Dano Rocky Road (leslie "sim", pretty close to a flanger).

Right now that's it but I'm looking for an envelope filter, maybe the EHX Bassballs or a bass synth with that kind of effect.

My OC-3 SuperOctave was stolen and I sold the Yamaha NE-1 EQ because I bought this Ampeg amp that have a 9 band graphic EQ. My compressor of choice is the dbx 160A but it is in the studio now. I'm looking for another one so I can have it full time in my rig.

Jimmy, Jimmy...!

Couldn't help it.
At this very moment I'm strapped to my modded P, plugged into my Opto Stomp and from there it's all buttery goodness with the VT Bass into the Firebox.

Took a break from laying tracks to respond to yet another VT Bass thread. What if it is that good? Maybe this pedal deserves its own forum.

I didn't even go to work today...

Look what my baby girl got for me (Christmas got here early this year):

And, I'm off for the weekend!

Just a few notes: 10/10 for Tech21's packaging, this metal box surprised me, I was expecting the reg cardboard box. And did you notice how good it smells? (the unit, not the box!)

The sticker already made its ways to my Fender case.

I try not to smell people's units...

I was going to ask if this is best for metal, but if it comes in a metal box is *has* to be the best. Sadly, this makes me realize that my current bass is best for cardboard...

You're indeed right, Sir.

Comparing it to my Ampeg B3

Just came back from a few hours locked in the room with bass, amp and VT Bass...

These settings match the sound of my Ampeg B3 (plugged in before the preamp and in the effects loop/bypassing the preamp sounded the same):

=

The only flat EQ control in the VT Bass is the LOW ("flat" from my amp's sound)

I guess it is working just fine! I say that because I read many posts saying that "flat" in the VT Bass meant cutting a little highs and bumping up a little mids.

By the character knob position I dialed in to get matched with my amp's sound, I assume this B3 I have sounds like an in-between thing, just in the middle of SVT and Fliptop (I'm considering the 9:00ish position as the SVT and the 12:00ish the Fliptop).

And this drive is awesome!! The built-in drive in my Ampeg B3 is wimpy and low-cutter close to the VT Bass' juicy drive knob.

Loving it so far!

Just to give a little info about the Ampeg B3: it is a 150W SS amp with a 15" speaker and a ported cab.
