Which octave to get? Recommend!

So, I guess my GAS has not subsided like I thought it would.
I got it in my head now that I need an octave pedal.

I think I want to run it parallel to all my other effects.
I have an octave effect on my ZOOM B2.1u which is pretty good. But sometimes I don't want the fuzz or whatever effect I'm running before it to be affected by the octave.

The Hartke Bass Attack pedal at the beginning of my chain has a parallel out. So I'll run one line into my normal effects chain, then the parallel out into the octave pedal. They'll be combined at the end with an AB/Y box so I can choose to have the octave combined with my affected signal or just have my effects chain sent to the amp.

So now... since I know how everyone likes to talk about their very own choice of octave pedal, DISCUSS!

I've narrowed my choices to the new Aguilar Octamizer or the Boss OC-3.

I like the Aguilars low pass filter. Perfect for that dub and dubstep sound that I'm picturing. I'd love to have that combined with some of the FM-4's filters and synths. Also it's individual level controls for dry and octave seem really handy. From what I've heard, it tracks great.

And the OC-3. Do I need it's overdrive function? How does it's poly track? I've read numerous times here that the OC-2 is great, so I'm assuming that the OC-3 is just as good but with additional features.

Those two are the ones that are impressing me at the moment. Of course, I've searched and read reviews or what not. But now that you've read how I want to implement it, are there any other recommendations you TBers may have?

If that great, all-analogue octaver sound is what you want, there are plenty of solid units to choose from (OC-2, EBS OctaBass, Foxrox Octron to name a few), but the Octamizer is a great pick due to the tone shaping capabilities and the fantastic tracking. It's the right one for me, because all I care about in an octaver is good tracking on single-note octave-down, but I also like to be able to shape the tone. In case you missed it, I did a review of the Octamizer here. I've never used the OC-2 or OC-3, but keep in mind that the OC-3 is digital, not analogue, and anything you read regarding the OC-2 likely will not translate to the OC-3.

I had the OC-3. It tracked very well. In fact i picked it over the EBS Octabass and a MicroPOG.

It's 'dirt' octave was worthless though.

I just never found i needed an octave or it would have stayed. I traded it for a MiM Jazz bass.

Ah I did see your review. That's what really grabbed my attention. Of course the placing of the pedal on my PedalTrain is gonne be fun.

I'm pretty sure it's the one I want though.
The OC-3 seems like it might be overkill for what I want.
For a simple, well tracking solid octave down, the Aguilar seems great. The tone controls are what really does it for me.
I think I really like it so far.

I have the OC-2. I really like it. I run it with a Boss GE7 equalizer pedal behind it. I get some really good sounds out of it.
