Octave Pedal

Sign in to disble this ad
I am looking for a little advice on octave pedals. I realize that there probably other posts that talk about what I'm asking, but my ADD doesn't allow me the patience to search the forums, so sorry in advance for repeats.

Let me start off by saying that I have a Boss OC-3 along with a Korg Tone Works, and explain what I don't like about both of them. I'll admit that the Boss is far superior, as far as adjust-ability, but on both the sub octave is so modulated (Hopefully that's the right term), it kind of makes my bass sound out of tune. I would like to find an octave pedal that simply produces the sound of my bass one smooth octave lower.

I really hope this makes sense. If it does, could someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks so much.

The EBS is very "smooth" and doesn't cause any weird osilation. Most other analog octavers probably fall in that same boat.

The EBS is a very good, less expensive option. I owned the gray box version and the octave down was very nice.

However, if you want the king of the hill, the Foxrox Octron is the best analog octave down option out there. Fat, rich and smooth is the best way to describe it.

Your lack of patience prohibits you from reading even just a little of the umpteen-thousand octave threads that already answer your question? That's your prerogative, I guess....

I love my Electro-Harmonix Octave Multiplexer, but it does have problems tracking down the lower notes, I'd say maybe from the low A and lower. BUT with the high filter and the bass filter knobs it has, I'm able to dial in a great, synth-ish octave sound I really enjoy... You might want to try it.

Currently on my board is an mxr bass octave deluxe. Killer tones whether you want smooth depth or middy synth like tones. Tracks remarkably well down to a low g, okay to an f, but don't expect much past that.

With the amount of effort you used writing this you could have easily offered a suggestion. Kind of though that's what a forum was about. But I guess that's your prerogative...

depends on what sound your going for. I'm not a big funk synth kinda of guy but I do use a Digitech Whammy set to one octave down which is run through a line selector pedal to add some volume since the whammy doesn't have a gain/volume control. I use it more as a pitch shifter with that setting. The octave harmony isn't bad either but I've yet to use the octave harmony setting in a band setting because it just doesn't fit the style. From what I've seen though the bass octave deluxe and the EBS octabass are pretty cool. I'm not really into the pog or the boss octave

I could list why redundant threads make searching less efficient, but I'm not sure if it would come off as too preachy. So, please allow me to point out that the least you could have done was ask the question in a unique or more specific way, rather than just admitting your unwillingness to read through the already readily available information.

I bought the Rastop myself. And mine has an added fuzz circuit. Bought it from a fellow TB'er from Amsterdam.
