Looking for suggestions: preferably under $150, sub octave and octave up settings.

Should of mentioned that I do have an EHX Bass Big Muff PI, so I'm looking for for an octave pedal to compliment it.

Just a note, there are few pedals that have an octave down AND octave up (even less if you disqualify those that accomplish the octave up via clipping) and I can't think of a single one under $150 new.

What are you trying to do with an octave pedal?

You might be able to grap a micro pog on eBay for under 150, if you're lucky. It can go 1up/1down. Maybe look into a Boss OC-2 for a synthy octave down.

I play in a 3 piece set and our guitarist likes to pause during songs and play a bit of keyboard. Basically I'm just trying to fill in the void when he's doing something else or even playing a solo. Not sure if that makes any sense, but anyhow that's the plan. I'm going to try a few out tonight but I woulnd't mind a few suggestions like that I'm not running around.

Get a Boss OC-2... play higher up on the neck.

They're tricky to find sometimes. I actually like the OC-3 as well. Also maybe check out the EBS OctaBass (used is in the $140 range).

OC-2>Muff

Play one octave up on the neck, and you will sport a semi all night long.... Forget the octave up pedal... Play bass.

Play in your normal register, and you'll sport a "full" all night long.... Remember the octave up pedal... Play bass with effects.

Thanks everyone. By looks of it, it seems that my best option would be to go with a micropog that has both octave up and down options. I could always go with an OC-2 and play higher up on the neck, wouldn't this limit my playing options?

Hmm...if you are interested in uctave up, have you checked out any octave up fuzzes such as the attack goat or the B:assmaster. They would do essentially the same deal and would probably sound better and give you more fuzz options. Then again I think the octave up on the micro pog sounds way to digital
