Octave Up Effects

Sign in to disble this ad
I have an octave down effect, looking to snag and Octave up...

the two i'm really giving the eyeball are:

the Mojo Hand Mystic Octavius
the Catalinbread Ottavia Magus

i have found samples of the Mystic Octavius but not the Catalinbread....anybody use either of these pedals...if so how do you like them?

and Please DON'T suggest the POG...been there done that don't like it

I've tried the Mystic Octavius, pretty good on guitar. Pretty pointless on bass.

thanks....they all seem to sound good on guitar...lol

found clips on here of the Ottava Magus as well...looks like I'm back to the drawing board...maybe?

ok Grygrx....so tell me if it were you which octave up effect would you snag for bass?

don't you have that Phoenix Custom Electronics Octopus? (or am i nuts?) what are your thoughts on it?

I also tried the Voodoo lab Proctavia....lot of low end loss there on bass...and your typical response only at both ends of the spectrum....

possibly slight overkill unless you find a good deal but the boss PS-5 tracks well on bass (four string at any rate) it can do one or two octaves up. Not to mention so many other cool harmonizer features

Well the problem with MOST of the octave style effects you are talking about (I like to call them Hendrix emulators... I'm sure they are based off of something) is they only start producing octaves even on guitar at like the twelfth fret, which makes them worthless on bass.

I have no octopus. The only octave up I've ever used and was happy with on bass is the foxrox octron. The octron 2 was a little too much for me, but one of these days I'll snag another regular one.

Green Ringer replica - original note, plus 1 octave up. One switch, no knobs.

Tycobrahe Octavia replica - one of my favorite pedals...Controllable fuzz plus an octave up in there. Stack it w/ a muff and you've got musical orgasms flying everywhere.

Prob w/ the W&C Red Fish - two knobs...Look for one w/ Vol., Intensity, Pre-gain. More flexibility.

Prob w/ Mad Guitars Seafoam Ringer - you can find the same pedal in a small enclosure.

Keep up the good search!

your best bet is the whammy pedal. the latest has multiple octave up and down effects, plus all sorts of other stuff like automatic harmony, drop tuning, and a chorus-like detune effect. not a rip off, try it

The Whammy actually has only two octave up effects. One is the harmony (which is paired with Octave down) and the other is a pitch bend.

It also has it's own tone that not everyone may like.

try the BYOC Armstring Twin at www.axeandyoushallreceive.com

http://axeandyoushallreceive.com/store/page1.html

Scott's a great guy to deal with and has hooked up premade BYOC pedals.

Awesome time to want to buy gear.

after researching non-stop and bidding on several pedals (which have already gone up way too much for my taste) i think after hearing the clips I have settled on the Devi Ever God Zilla...

anybody have experience with this pedal?

Grygrx...most of them are based on the Tycobrahe Octavia used by Hendrix...a lot of them have mods (extra knobs for more control) others are based on the Maestro Brassmaster...

but (I think) i have settled on the Devi Ever God Zilla (maybe)

I'm getting a Prescription Electronics C.O.B. (Clean Octave Blend). I'm assuming the separate knobs for clean tone and octave will allow me to keep all my bottom, and I have heard and am hoping that the octave stacks well with my other fuzzes. If I like it, I will be posting clips of it.

I've got the Black Cat Bass Octave Fuzz. I like it for what it does. I tend to use it for lead lines, and as someone mentioned, the octave doesn't really pop out until you're up above the 12th fret:

"over there" octave solo
