Octavers for Bass - digital vs. analog

Sign in to disble this ad
I was looking for a bass pedal that included an octave up effect-- all the boards raved about the Foxrox Octron, so I ordered one.

Call me old-fashioned, but I'm not one for distortion on bass except as a rarely-used, extreme effect. Unfortunately I didn't read the Octron manual before ordering, where it clearly states that analog octave up is--by definition--a product of distortion.

Net, This is a very well made pedal, tracks great, but I'm looking for a CLEAN octave up-do I need a digital pedal, and does anybody out there use such an animal for Bass?

BTW, it MUST have true bypass.

Yes, you need a digital octaver for clean octave up sounds.

The Electro Harmonix XO POG is probably what you want though I don't believe it's true bypass. Personally I'd rather have good buffered bypass than true bypass but if it's a dealbreaker for you then I'm not sure what other pedal might fit the bill.
