I have over used the ehx, but the Octron is amazing. It just plain kills. I have no issues with any of the tracking. Sure it gets finicky down low on the E string with the octave down, but such is life.

You're going to find that to be the case with the Octron as well. For a digital octaver like the POG, a true octave up sound can be created. Just like the octave down sound on the POG, (or HOG or Whammy or Pitchfactor etc) it will have an obviously digital sound which is cleaner and (IMO) less interesting than an analog octaver. But you'll get excellent tracking and a very audible octave up sound.

Creating an octave up sound with an analog pedal is usually done with high gain circuit that uses diodes for clipping. This gives a sound like Octavia style fuzzes. Higher up on the neck the octave effect is much more noticeable.

The Octron will be a bit of an improvement, but the design is the same so I wouldn't hope for too much change.
