OD to drive my Enigma

Sign in to disble this ad
Well I recently bought an Aguilar AG500 to biamp my setup. I have an Eden WT800 running my dry sound and the AG500 to run my wet effected tone.

My problem is that I like the od/distortion/fuzzy tone of the AG500 better than the sound of my Battering Ram(like the pedal and the versatility but it doesn't sound as good as the AG500's b channel).

I want an OD that will work well with my Enigma(I know there is one built in but I want something different) to create some synthy/noise like tones. I have heard some clips of the Prunes and Custard that I liked but is there anything else out there that I might want to consider?

I LOVE my Prunes and Custard, but not for driving a filter! It Is a subtle filter...I use it for bringing out some midrange (before the Attack Goat...) When I try it with a filter it just muddies things up. (Prunes and Custard is super on it's low gain sounds, like adding some flubber to steel. I could even see using it as a funky overdrive. )

Thanks this is the kind of feedback I am looking for. Anyone have an Enigma and use a distinctive OD with it(It's ok to list your favorite OD's here I am just trying to get a list of prospective units to research)?

My current favs: Xotic Bass BB preamp (fairly transparent OD) and Catalinbread SFT (adds Ampeg B15 color). I use the BB to drive my phaser and the SFT to drive my Snow White Auto Wah.

Thanks guys for the responses. I used my whole setup at a gig last night for the 1st time and as much as I'd like to succumb to my gas for a new OD pedal I can definately get by with the Battering Ram. I am just going to have to setup a sound that works simply to OD the filter. In the future I am pretty certain I will get a P&C just because it sound so cool but for now I must resist the GAS.
