OD+OD... Question.

Ok, so I love using fuzz as much as anyone else who listens to doom & plays doom. However, in my current band, for the song where I use fuzz, it seems to not work aswell as it has done in previous bands, & my normal OD tone doesnt really "cut it" for that song either. So, I'm wondering, would running an my OD into another OD give a general "getting hit in the face with a big hammer" type tone? Unfortunatly, I can't try it out atm, as I've only got the one OD, & it's attatched to my board, about 20 miles away from where I live (in our practice studio).

What I'm thinking is running something like

Ashdown Hyperdrive -> Digitech Bad Monkey

or

Ashdown Hyperdrive -> Ibanez Phathead

Although, if anyone can suggest another OD that's in a similar price range (i.e, pretty budget) that I could try out, it'd be awesome.

I'd suggest a change in EQ. OD into OD may thin your tone out or sap certain important frequencies for the "getting hit in the face with a hammer" type you want.

Yeah I'd agree throwing more dirt at the problem is not the solution. Is this a new band with new guitarists, or have the guitarists changed what they're doing? Sounds like they're swamping the frequencies you used to occupy.

Well, we've been together for about 6 months, but our lead guitarist has replaced his old combo (Behringer combo of some sorts) with a Marshall Superbass & 1960 cab, for his gain he uses a Blackstar HT-Dual, not sure about the settings, but he's trying to get a Mesa-esc tone (not a clue why he brought a Marshall for that tbh) so he has it set to the American voiced setting & when we were out drinking I think he mentioned that he maxes out the bass on it. Tbh, I think we're going to need a major settings re-jig.
