OD vs. Fuzz vs. Distortion Soundclips?

Sign in to disble this ad
I am on the hunt again for a distortion box. I don't want to pay 3 digits on it and I have a couple of sounds in my head. One of wich I have never really heard on a bass, but I think it could be done. I am wanting a gentle overdrive and possibly a really bass friendly monster distortion, like a Les Paul all distorted and heavy. Anyway.

In order to help me in my quest, does anyone have good samples of bass tone with the following categories.

Overdrive
Fuzz
Distortion

Some say that overdrive and fuzz are really the only 2 and that they are both distortions. I am just trying to get my ears around what people describe. I think I have OD in my head, but fuzz does not sound to me all that pleasing in the bass department unless I have the wrong sound in my mind. I am looking for a sound (ok here it goes) similar to the sound you make when you say Arrrrrrr all pirate like. It is all raspy and broke up.

I would say a boss odb3 would be right up your street, very raspy sounding.

If you look at the top of the page, there is a link that says 'WIKI'. Click there. Then look for the 'effects' link, and click there. Then look for the 'soundclips' link. Lots and lots of soundclips for you to listen to.
