ODB-3 into Bass Big Muff?

Sign in to disble this ad
Has anyone tried this pedal order? I'm revamping my equipment stocks (read: selling old **** (read: EHX Bassballs and my Thunderbird)). I'd seen snipets on how this combo is full of win, but no real, in depth analysis. My ODB gets an "okay" sound, but I think I'd like some more face-melt-power to my sound to melt faces (and krush bones, I suppose). Keep in mind that I need something with some balls with a ****-ton of pants-soiling low end.

Interestingly enough, I just had a conversation with a recording friend of mine who just used that exact setup for a song. He said that it gave him a sort of "synthy" sound, which kind of makes sense to me. No experience of my own however.

Synthy... Hmm... I think I'll go ahead and get me a BBM. I just need to decide if I want a Weeping Demon. SO TEMPTING!

I run my OD (EBS Multidrive) into my Bass Muff, seems to give me a little bit more dirt which I like.

Interesting. I can't recall ever putting the two together. I'll try it out next time I am at my studio and report back.

The best results I've achieved have been putting fuzz after an overdrive or distortion due to the way each effect clips your signal. (fuzz being much harder clipping than overdrive or distortion)

If you're looking to have a good overdrive and then want to step on a fuzz for a boost, the fuzz will remain intact MORE SO than if the fuzz was before the overdrive.

I have both but i do not use them together. I have all the knobs pretty much all the way up on both so it doesnt sound good at all if i use them together.

Define synthy in regards to this combination. Synthy is such a broad term it could mean any number of things. If it's the type of synthy I have in my head I'll be very happy. Soundclips would earn you my eternal love.

ODB-3 > EHX BBM

Hey, I use this exact combination quite often and it is really, REALLY powerful to say the least.

Using the ODB-3 with quite a heavy clean blend, about 12 on both gain and balance, running into the EHM BBM, on DRY mode, favouring the treble side of the tone knob, I get a pretty massive sound, boosting the fudge out of my low end with the ODB-3.

I think it is a winning combo for sure, a really heavy fuzz, with lots of presence and warmth. You can really feel it when you kick your ODB-3 on, running through the BBM, and so can the audience!

I'm going to be ordering the BBM next Friday, when I get paid. Could anyoen do me a favor and post their settings? Eskimo's sound interesting.
