The Offical "Post your Band/Solo site where you use effects" Thread

Sign in to disble this ad
Something that I've always loved doing is listening to other bassists, even other musicians for that matter, and seeing how they incorporate effects into their riffs/songs. It helps to get those creative juices flowing when the springs starting to run out. So do it up people post your myspace where you got songs that incorporate as little as one effect or as many as 100. The more the merrier.

Unfortunately I don't have anything to offer right now but I'm working on building my home studio so it will come soon enough TB'ers!

Also, to make things easier identify which songs got what.

This stuff is all bass at the moment.
THAT BAND YOU HATE!
Limes has no FX other than reverb, and it doesn't have any loops, just lots of overdubs with a EUB.
Growll
Fuzzy Karma and Wind and Sky feature a 70's ROLAND: RE-201 Space Echo as the delay

Here I am using a BassBalls for a solo during Brickhouse:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=TEGnXH2elQc

If you keep watching, you'll see my guitarist break his whammy bar off of his '64 Strat mid-solo. Too cool!

See signature for my three projects. Avolition has a decent amount of everything, Farewell, Shootka! has oodles of distortion, and The Wold and The Whale is completely effects-driven.

Yes, I do think it is stupid for me to have two separate solo projects, I'll probably merge them into one eventually and then complete my density of ripping off Old Man Gloom as best I can.

Here are my bass songs I have up on my Soundclick music page, kind of a lead bass thing as I have no guitarists around here to play with . I am using a Digitech Grunge (actually for metal guitar but great distortion for bass, a Boss chorus, a Boss Blues Driver (with CEB-2 chorus) on Looking Past the Edge (my favorite to play) and touch of reverb from a modeled Laney amp.

Galileo is reputed to have said, " All further exploration of space using my new telescope will be enhanced by what I foresee to be another grand invention...a device to be called a bass guitar."

I think I read that somewhere but could be wrong.

This is almost all effects, not very imaginative, but my first effort at recording my own thing all by my lonesome. I got a little lazy at the end of the recording, but enough with the excuses.

http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6524078

First part: Rhythm line is clean, ambiance line is a Small Stone with the color switch on, lead is a Micro Q-Tron set to HP with drive and Q set to around 8 or 9 into a DOD Classic Tube with low gain settings.

Second part: Rhythm is run with the DOD and an ODB-3 paralleled with high gain settings, lead is an Octave down HOG run through a similar distortion setup, the squeal is done through the +3 octave setting on the HOG plus the pitch shift into the DOD (I think that is right, it's been a bit)

Third part: Low end is distorted with the blended ODB-3/ DOD combo, High end is the Q-tron/dod combo.

Fourth part: Phaser included on the Audacity program. Laziness setting in.... must.... not .....re-record ...part... with phaser.

The link is in my sig. The songs use the following effects:

A Lesson in Evil: bass -> Devi Ever BIT -> EHX Bass Micro Synth

Arglou: Three different bass tracks using a plethora of effects, which would take me quite a while to write out.

Hey thanks! I need to actually do something with that eventually, find a drummer and/or vocalist and take it to the next level: playing to crowds of 10 in seedy bars.

The link to Gold & Glass in my sig: all 4 tunes have efx to one degree or another. Billy has a ton of fuzz throughout and flange (which kicks in at 1:34), Big Bad Wolf opens with tremolo (and ends with overdrive, I think) and Russia and No Roses have a very light fuzz throughout, ending with a boost.

Live I use a ton more, including 3-4 HOG settings w/expression input, synths on a couple covers, delay, etc. but I don't have any of that online (yet).

I love using EHX so get your earbuds on and have a listen

I really dig EHX and listed on my page is the pedals I use from them, all the loops are done with the Memory Man w/ Hazari and straight in to the laptop.

The bass player in my band uses effects, mainly chorus, flangers, and some overdrive type multi-effects.

I think he's using a few effects (though I don't know what) on a couple songs on our site. Nothing more than slight overdrive and maybe chorus at the most.

On #4 and #6 at least

myspace.com/fistinass is my noisey band Fist Full of Blood where there isnt guitar most of the time. On 2nd trimester nosebleed I use a lot of effects. Line 6 Delay, Pro Co Rat,Whammy(2 up),and a touch of synth wah.

Also on our friends list is Boherald my proggy shoegaze etc band. I use a whammy and delay at the beginning of Colored Pictures to make the whale call sounds and the ambient scrape sounds. The distorted parts are all done with my Depth Charge fuzz. And the bashing part at the end is the fuzz and whammy(1 up). And the song Auqalamb I use the whammy on 5th up/6th up. Also the fuzz is used on one section and the Line 6 delay is what produced the glitching that ended the song. We will be rerecording those songs though because the guy mixed it did a bad job.

See signature...Esoteric is heavily effects driven, including the bass, although you wont necessarily hear it clearly amongst the chaos.
