All iPads will work with the iRig interface, so you will have no problem using the iRig.
I use iPad 1. The iPad Mini use this lightning connection instead of the regular 30pin interface, but apple have all the possible adapters.

Thanks. I was looking in the store, and wasn't sure the Irig was compatible with the high end iPad. The headphone/mic jack appears to be on separate connections. (This is the retina model I'm talking about). But thanks. If it works with that model, I'll spring for it and upgrade the interface when I can get one that works with the lightening connector.

Yep the ipad2 and mini have the same processor chip and display resolution. The iPad 3 and mini have lightning connections also the full hd cameras.
Are the lightning connections a higher bandwidth?

Apple is very lazy with giving out specs, if the lightning thing in the iPad mini and iPad 3 are based on the Mac version then it suppose to have better/ faster bandwidth.
Luckily for iRig users the headphone out is not touched as many use headphones on these devices. But for Apogee users one will need to buy the lightning to USB camera connector.

Thanks. That's what I needed to know. Has anyone used the Apogee with the lightening adapter? I've heard that it isn't set up for audio yet.
It's looking like the iPad 3 will be under the tree this year, so I can go back to using my phone...as a phone.
why did they change from 30 pin?
ok the new lightning port isnt faster just reversable (the way you plug it in) and more durable. (they say)
the new ipads have the "lightning" port, the new macs have the "thunderbolt"
i havent heard the lightning bolt advantages other than its new. the website says about thunderbolt.....
"Thunderbolt technology.
Built right in.
The fastest, most flexible I/O ever lets this display do things others simply can’t.
Thunderbolt I/O technology lets you move data between your devices and your computer with unprecedented speed. With two channels of 10-Gbps throughput in both directions, it’s up to 20 times faster than USB 2.0 and up to 12 times faster than FireWire 800. And it allows you to connect as many as six devices through a single, compact port."
Thunderbolt is a huge step in connectivity for speed and bandwidth and interchangability and multiple devices and was added on as an extra available port they didnt take away usb or firewire.........but
i better stop before i get on a rant.....

So as long as interfaces are being made that are compatible with the lightening connector, we're good.
I'm still debating. The iPad 3 is happening, but I'm gonna need to upgrade my interface. The Irig works, but if I'm going to be using this live, I need something that's gonna hold up.

I'm using an Apogee but with an iPad 3 so no lightening. Love the retina display! So much nicer than my wife's iPad 1 display.

I'm confused......I thought all iPad 3's have the lightning port. Are you using a 30 pin adapter or usb adapter or does the first available iPad 3's have 30 pin.????
What your favorite amp and cab (assuming you are an AT user)

Thinking about it, it is the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini which use the new lightning.
All the new iOS devices come with the lightning port....(phone pad touch)
I have a question on the 8track section of AT.
i was reading In the IK forum that someone asked if it was possible to have fx after the amp like in the desktop version, and I think it was Peter or obi or Brian responded no not in iOS version yet. It was posted in October this year. I thought if the track was selected and the send was on it would come through the out put to hear instantly.... For live use in my case..... If you can't out put the fx at the end of signal path, I sure don't want to purchase it. Is this true?

Anyone try the Rocksmith cable? I did some searching and it works with the 30-pin with the right adapter.
Seems the camera connection kit has that adapter, and it works. But the cables have a rep for being junk.
