I like Adam's contest name better! Here's my spin on it:
"Virtual Hot Sounds Cook-off Challenge".
New rules:
1) open voting. Means that the entry with the most votes win. This frees the founding fathers from colluding and/or feeling guilty for nominating themselves!
2) no limit on entries. Post away. At the end of the contest we'll nominate the top 10 entries, create a forum poll and vote.
3) The contest is not limited to B-15 samples. Sure, this all started as a "virtual portaflex" thread, but there are other amp sims, effects, etc. Now, if you DO come up with a nice B-15 sample, and JimmyM happens to hear it and come here and say "whoa!", you do get extra points in your favor. No I have not contacted Jimmy. I don't know if he knows, or even if he cares about this challenge. But since he is a very respected TB'er, and the de facto Ampeg voice here, if he likes it it MUST be good. So start bribing Jimmy; go to his house and mow his lawn, and get some points in yer favor!
4) The above rules apply to "best tone" category. I decided that there should be another category, which I'll call "best innovative solution". You do something cool from a technical perspective, and you win! The prize for this category will be a 5-string set of your choice, however I'll go Henry Ford on this one and add "as long as it is a set of DR FatBeams". I have an extra set and will joyfully send it to the winner of this category. In this category, I'll select Steve Rolfeca as our "in-house resident technical expert". Get him to come here and say "are you kiddin' me? That's insanely cool!", and you get bonus points. Go ahead, wash Steve's car. If TomBowlus (or his people) say "git outta here! that's killin' man!" you get a bonus too.
Remember, you gotta submit your 500-word story, the sample (via SoundCloud or YouTube), and the settings (screen capture).

What about a set total limit (say 4 or 5). This would set the bar higher right off the start, save some bandwidth, and push ourselves to try a little harder to really dial in a specific sound for each amp. This would also make it a little more fair for those who can't afford to buy every in-app sim option. And, a little easier on the judges.
EDIT: thinking of the Zoom B3 Settings thread... It's not a bad to do the same and keep it strictly focused on settings: quick sound description and screen shot(s).

I agree. Unless someone disagrees and provides compelling reasons why we should not, let's limit the number of entries to 5.
I promise to be a fair judge. I may have a short fuse, but I'm an avid music fan. I play or listen to music about 75% of my day, every day.
I won't enter, of course. But I will still be posting clips of new tones. Especially that My Favorite Enemies one, I'm gonna nail that one.

You should enter, it'll be fun and, gee wiz, it's just a cool little contest.
Now, if you nail that Enemies VT Dlx tone, I'm telling you right now, you got my vote!
This is the first thing I recoreded with my iphone iRig setup. Backing track (Drums) is from ampkit. The bass track has been doubled one through Ampkit (AshDown) and the other was processed through Amplitube (Standard Ampeg). The Guitar track was run trough Amplitube as well and all tracks mixed in Amplitube. This has some noise but as i mentioned in other post it seems to be more from the effects and amp settings then anything else.
Here is one a couple you have just heard from another thread going. Any way this is a loop that was recoded through Jamup in their sampler. The bass amp is the Blueline with the the Mutron iii and maybe the EQ pedal. The guitar was Jamup as well and just using the amp that came with the free version along with the Mutron iii and EQ. That is 2 different guitar tracks going one with the Mutron and other with out. Also the drum beat is something I made up in Easybeats. Enjoy (I hope).
Lets start this with a clean slate. I'll leave you alone about your job, and you can feel free to share any info you can add to anything. I'm sure you can offer some very relevant info here, just remember we're talking iOS, not Mac or PC (unless you find a digital interface that'll work with iPhone AND PC!!)
Lets here something about your playing. What's your story? Got any clips?

Yes Brian come with a clip! But don't try to lurk into your headquarters, record a real B15R into the 8 track recorder with amp/ sim disabled! That will be cheating
I will be creating a separate thread fir the contest so that entries can be posted there. I will also add a minimum number of posting users for the contest to be valid (I'd like to see more than the usual sample posters well.. posting).
I'll send the link later today. Y'all have a great day!!!

I'm gonna try and get closer to that tone I had the drive way off on my settings post from last night it was more like 4 on the drive then 1 on the first post
