New B15 clip, new idea for a bass line.

Does anyone know for the contest does it need to be a song or just a bass line only recording?

This is not the Portaflex but the Blueline, on a song I just recorded. It is a regga song I did and it came out really good for me, seeing how I have never played anything regga before. I am quite proud of this song as well because I made up the drum beat with out hearing the bass line that was already recorded and it worked great. I also did the guitar tracks in Jamup and it is 3 different guitar tracks going (Man I love Jamup!).

I tell you, I was never a fan of the Portaflex amps when playing them live (in stores) but I must say I really have been digging them a lot in the iOS world but have not found the ultimate sound yet to leave the SVT, but getting close.

The rules are written to the detail in the contest thread. It's the tone we are after, so just a bass line is enough.

I have a preset that is now really close to the "your favorite enemies" tone with the bddi in front of the b15 that is really great it adds a little more grit to the b15 which is low and full with the bddi in front it opens up the high end grit with still holding on to the growl its gonna be my next "frienemies" tone.

Aight!!! I listened to Duke's, Rip's and Adam's rendition of "My Favorite Enemies" ("frienemies" for short) Ben Lemelin's tone..

Good playing there guys! I do have an opinion of who I think is closer, but I ain't sayin' since I don't wanna give out my vote yet!

A few comments off the record... I had never heard of these guys either (they haul from Montreal if I"m not mistaken), until one day I stumbled upon that VT Bass review by Ben, and I went, "whoa!". I think it sounds friggin' awesome!

'nother comment regarding the contest, for all those who are interested... no, it's not a symphony! just tone evaluation... so (when you're ready) upload your line or few bars that showcases the tone you found, and that's it! Now, don't gimme the "blah, blah, blah", you gotta post the screen caps or it didn't happen.

I need to catch up with "the circle". I know Adam claims he looks like the circle, but I'm about 35 lbs over where I should be myself, so... Adam, et al, I never heard yay or nay on the "mediocre bassists club" and how I thought you were the chair where it turned out to be another Mr. Bomb to have started it. Am I forgiven?

I ran into some money! I couldn't have bought an iPad or somethin'. But I spent it on a PowerBlock gym set, dropped my gym membership, and now I'm working out with my kids.

K, folks. I may not post as often but I do follow the (iOS-related) threads. Just kickstartin' the year and taking care of some health issues, but life is good, thank God for that.

Of course I forgive you I saw the mediocre bass thread you posted and read a little bit. If it was based on gear.....for some of the gear listings these "mediocre bass players" have. They are either one spending way too much money on something they are only mediocre at or two I don't even compare to the mediocre bass status at all. Or three they have to much money and too much gas. Wow.
Some of the lists go on and on.... I should start a "I suck at bass club"..... or the "I have a small bass gear list club" either would be a huge club I bet.

I know I'd be an honorary member of any such-related club.

Regarding the gear some of these folks have, I once read someone saying "I may suck, but I sound good doing it!". There was no disputing that.

I do have some pedals. My amp is nothing out of the ordinary (Ampeg PF-350 and 115HE cab). And my basses are a couple of Squawiers (TM) and an Essex. 4, 5 and 6 strings. If I can't learn on those I don't need to get anything "fancier".

Then I ran into you guys (iOS folks) and I think I have learned more in the short few months reading about your sound preferences and comparing your sound samples that I have learned in 3+ years on my own listening to JazzRadio and YouTube.

Thx.

The Circle Draft 9, re-worked drums

No more B15 talk? Or are all busy with the contest?

But we have to take any clip from Brian or Calvin with a pinch of salt as they can cheat, go into the software and add some tubes into the B15!!!! Brian might use a B15 with added tubes and 300W....

I'm going to wait for my virtual B-15 to get really old and crusty and then sell it for some serious vintage coin.
