I'm disappointed there are no sound clips yet. I'm really interested in comparing this to my bassballs for doing talkbox-like effects.

Plus it looks awesome of course. That never hurts.

I've been waiting on more info/clips on this one too. I don't think there is another formant filter in pedal form is there?

Well the Bassballs is basically a formant filter, but it only has two filters and the only thing you can adjust is envelope sensitivity. I can't think of any others in pedal form though.

Given that this actually calls itself a formant filter I'm expecting it to blow the bassballs away.

A Bassballs clone with extra tweakability? Taking the two internal trimpots and making them knobs? I don't know. I'm curious about it as well. The schematic for the Bassballs is out there so it's only a matter of time before clones are made.

I wouldn't at all be surprised if this is the case, but I'm hoping for a bit more.

There's a brief guitar demo at the end of this video but it's not great.

Turns out the controls are: Sensitivity, a 4-position rotary mode switch, and a dirt knob. So it seems it's a lot like the Bassballs but with four different frequency centres for the filter.

That video did nothing to diminish my GAS for the Little Dipper. My big question is how it sounds on bass. My big complaint with the Bassballs has always been how thin it sounds. I REALLY want to hear some bass clips.

I also wish it had expression control of the sensitivity. Then you could get some really interesting textures going on.

Hi all... for those that haven't seen it, there are a couple videos (one of which is fairly meaty) linked from the Godlyke page for this pedal.

http://godlyke.com/shopping/pgm-more...ion.php?id=186

"SCHEDULED RELEASE DATE - LATE MAY, 2009"

... it could be really cool.

Well, the price tag dissolved my GAS for the time being.

I'm interested, but not $300 interested, especially for a filter that I haven't heard a single bass clip of. Of course, at that price point I'm not sure if I want it to sound great on bass. . .

I also find the Bassballs thin, but for $300 I could get a digitech talker, or who knows what...

$300 is a lot... but is there another pedal that can do a 'talk box with no mic' sound like this? (sincere question) In the 2 minute video, the sounds around the 1:10 and 1:40 are really far out. Then again maybe it relies on a very specific input tone or range to work well.

I think the forthcoming EHX Enigma is going to be an envelope-following formant filter, like the Bassballs but more tweakable. That's all based on speculation but it seems likely enough.

That guy's no idea how to play an envelope filter. Useless demos.

Hahahaha. One of the worst demos ever.

EDIT: Typed a bit too soon. The third video shows a little bit of what it can do. Still terrible though.

Even the last video is pretty awful. But it seems decent because the ones before it were so incredibly bad.

I've never understood why manufacturers would display such awful representations of their products. It's like when for a while the only clip of the VT Bass was that guy slapping like crazy with it on a high gain setting, something 95% of the people buying the VT bass have no interest in using it for.

Then again, I hate 90% of all filter demos, because everyone demos their filters on their absolute quackiest settings. Echhh.
