Will this thing seriously destroy me pedals? cause I'd get it if it wasn't for the fact it might explode my gear. |

I think it's intended to over gain fuzz and distortion pedals,...and whatever else. I don't know if you can mess up pedals with something like this but I don't think you speaker cabs or amps would like that much gain. |

For a guitarist looking to drive the heck out of his tube amp, it might be handy, though. If you're looking for a clean boost, there are plenty of good, inexpensive pedals that will do the job without harming your gear. |

here's some things i learned...
1.) i tried it out with a Danelectro Peperoni Phaser w/ the knob at noon and it was crazy. The pedal handled it just fine and works normal afterwards. it was really loud, but still musical.
2.) for the heck of it, i tried plugging the output of the Blowing Up into an 8 Ohm speaker that i didn't mind if anything happened to it. needless to say, this thing can power a speaker! it was only about as loud as something talking to you, but still very distorted and the ohmage didn't properly match.
3.) i tried it as follows: Fender Jaguar --> Blowing Up--> 12w all tube amp. THIS is where it shined. that amp has always been mild, but with this boost in the lowest setting... it was total rock. while i only tried it out for about 30 seconds, i didn't notice anything wrong with any of my gear.
so yes, it's crazy, but it's still useful.
i'm still figuring out if it's right for me.
i might be willing to loan it to others... just to get a taste.

I asked if anyone actually blew anything up on the OHNOHO subforum of ILF and someone reported in that he fried the preamp tubes in his old Fender Twin (guitard). |

I did.
for some reason i thought it would be cool to set up Guitar -> Blowing up -> 1973 twin reverb.
It blew some preamp tubes i think, the thing crackled afterward, but i think the tubes were on the way out anyway. but, it still counts as blowing it up.
also, it wasn't my amp. and im an *******. Wont be using it with other peoples stuff again, i can tell you that.
| ^^^This was his reply. I'd link the thread but it has naughty language and big butts.
Your guess is as good as mine. |
