Oil can delay modeller?

Sign in to disble this ad
Does anybody know of a digital delay pedal that has a mode modelled after Tel-Ray (etc) oil can delays?

I've seen VST oil can modelers but nothing in the stompbox world. Everything else has been emulated - what gives?

can't find one googling around so i guess the next best thing past wacking an expensive and rare actual tel-ray on your bored is some sort of combo.

Im not overly familiar with them but don't they just sound like a tape delay sort of sound with a light vibrato, chorus or tremolo or something?

but yeah doesn't look like there's any stompboxes out there, but they were originally invented to provide a portable tape delay without the tapes anyway weren't they? so i guess a tape modeller would be the close too

they were from the tape delay era but the oil system uses capacitance, so it's actually closer to a solid-state analog delay than tape in terms of functionality.

They are none too popular, but they definitely have a sound and character of their own. Practically every other vintage effect seems to be available in modelled form, why not this one? I think it would be cool with a picture of a duck on it.

fair enough i dont know much about it

duck is cool, but me personally, graphics that make it look like some kind of gnarly tuna can with a fish skeleton on it. Because that's the symbolism people usually use when describing the can itself.
