The bass is solo'd at about 4 minutes in and I just plain love it and hope to high heaven that some of you dirt-freaks will be able to instantly say "Oh, that's the such-and-such and someone's selling it in the classified for about a buck."
Actually you're closer to "in luck" than you might have guessed! You can get very close to that sound with a bass-modded Boss DS-1. You can find used DS-1's for dirt cheap any day of the week, and then either do the modding yourself, or pay somebody to do it. I don't have the link handy, but if you search on "ds1" in this forum you'll find a big thread that explains the mods for bass.
Also for more coin, the Zeibek Gemini Drive can get you that sound.
I am not this guy, but I like to recommend him when I can. He does excellent work--I had him do a Boss DS-1, which sounded AMAZING (I used it for guitar), but his Supersonic Russian Big Muff is by far the best bass distortion I have ever heard (it also works for guitar). Of course, I have very little bass dirt experience, but I know what I like!

As luck may (or may not) have it, I have a modded BOSS DS-1, done by Bassjunkie730 from this very site, that I am currently selling. You can find some info if you do some digging through his threads and IIRC there are some sound clips put up. Link to the sale is in my sig.
